HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection in the United States. Approximately 20 million Americans are infected with HPV. About 6.2 million more will become infected with genital HPV this year. Nearly all cervical cancers are related to HPV.

Adult Immunizations
Some adults incorrectly assume that the vaccines they received as children will protect them for the rest of their lives. Generally this is true, except:
- Some adults were never vaccinated as children
- Newer vaccines were not available when some adults were children
- Immunity can begin to fade over time
- As we age, we become more susceptible to serious diseases caused by common infections (e.g. flu, pneumococcus)
The PAIC has produced a unique video featuring a 2 minute and 17 minute PSA informing adults of the importance of immunization for themselves, thier spoused and their parents. The story line of the PSA features four different senarios: a couple involved in an international adoption, a high school graduate about to go to college, an adult who becomes the caretaker for an elderly relative and a man who has cancer and must rely on the community to be immunized to protect his health.
