On October 24, 2024, the NIC participated in the World Polio Day event held at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine in Scranton. Sponsored by the Rotary Club of Scranton, the event featured a full day of educational activities for over 120 high school students, who gathered for The Young Leaders Public Health Summit in celebration of World Polio Day 2024.

During the summit, students tackled pressing public health challenges that affect their communities at large. They engaged in dynamic exercises that placed them in the roles of policymakers, frontline responders, and community leaders, fostering critical thinking.
