BA.2 Variant Accounts For About 55% Of New US COVID-19 Cases, CDC Estimates
The New York Times (3/29) reports that according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates, the Omicron subvariant BA.2 “is now the dominant version of the virus in new U.S. cases.” The variant “accounted for about 55 percent of new U.S. cases in the week ending Saturday, according to” the CDC.
The Wall Street Journal (3/29, Subscription Publication) reports the US Northeast has the highest concentrations of BA.2, including more than 70% in the area including New Jersey and New York, according to the CDC.
